WHO WE ARE

We are the Autonomous Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem Grand Priory of England and Wales; more commonly known as The Knights Templar of England and Wales.

ORGANISATION OF THE PRIORY

Members have the opportunity to meet at a national assembly held once a year in varying parts of England and Wales.

This constitutes a general meeting, a church service including the admission of postulants, and investitures of Knights and Dames followed by a ceremonial dinner.

On formal occasions such as this the Knights and Dames are attired in white mantles bearing the red Templar cross on the left side.  They also wear regalia appropriate to their rank.  The one with the highest rank is the Grand Prior.

Both Knights and Dames can be appointed to office.

 

There is a succession of ranks through which some members rise, according to individual commitment, dedication and service to the order.  Namely Knight or Dame Officer, Commander, Grand Officer and Grand Cross. Promotions are not sought….they are conferred.

 

Knights are entitled to put the initials K.T after their names and Dames D.T

Officers are K.O.T/D.O.T Commanders are K.C.T/D.C.T and Grand Officers K.G.O.T/D.G.O.T.

Grand Cross is usually reserved for Grand Priors or Past Grand Priors K.G.C.T
